Staging Really Works: This is How I Know
Staging is all about the “before” and “after” and whether people will want to live in the space that has been staged. I have these staging secrets to share that I’ve gleaned as an interior designer. But I was first introduced to the magic of staging as a child when my father’s job relocated to Mexico City. Our first home was a furnished rental apartment across the street from Chapultepec Park. My mother loved the location and the artisanal tile in the bathroom, but she got to work right away transforming the look of the apartment using what she liked and storing away what didn’t work. Most of the design budget went towards bright white cotton slipcovers to unify and glamorize the homely furniture. She also shopped the local markets for straw rugs and purchased oversized black pottery. Like every other home she has ever lived in, this one was perfectly composed and had its share of admirers who wished they lived there. Spotlight on Audrey Lane
This luxury tile design firm was founded by Holli Van Cleave and Jennifer Horning, two self-described second generation “tile nerds” who have grout running through their veins. They got the idea for their line when they discovered a need in the industry for a bespoke option made entirely from porcelain tile. Audrey Lane gives designers the option to artfully design a one-of-a-kind tile for their client projects. It all starts with an extensive color palette with 97 options including wood looks, metal, natural stone and solid colors. READ MY INTERVIEW WITH THE FOUNDERS OF AUDREY LANE
