Holiday guests are on their way and some will be bringing their pets with them. Are you ready? If your home isn’t pet proofed, a visiting animal can claw, chew and scuff up your furniture and floors. This is especially concerning if you’ve recently remodeled or purchased new furniture. However, there are many pet friendly, high performance furniture and flooring options that will make hosting furry guests—and living with your own pets—much easier. There are also simple decorating tips that can help. Try choosing a fabric that’s similar in color to your pet’s fur. This will help hide hair in between vacuumings. Also, you can avoid light fabrics that always show marks and stains faster, especially in high-traffic areas. Opt for a darker color instead and don’t rule out patterns. Another suggestion is to eliminate wall-to-wall carpet since it’s difficult to keep clean and it can trap pet hair (and pet odors).
